With “The Hundred”, T20 and international cricket on television throughout the summer, spare a thought for grass roots matches on village grounds each weekend. These are more relaxed, with friends enjoying the comradery of meeting for the same fixture each year. These games are competitive but winning isn’t everything!
Sadly such games are in decline, with players preferring league cricket rather than “timed cricket”, which is why Reigate Pilgrims Cricket Club is looking for new members at their ground in Buckland.
